Bruno Bonomo (Silvio Orlando), an unsuccessful film producer. In the 1970s, the man dealt with trash films together with his wife Paola (Margherita Buy). But then at a certain point his life gets completely out of hand: his small manufacturer risks bankruptcy and his marriage goes into full crisis. Suddenly a glimmer of hope makes him think that there is still a way to go. A young girl, Teresa (Jasmine Trinca), offers him a script for a film he would like to make, entitled Il caimano, about the life of Silvio Berlusconi.
