Jane da Mosto, Executive Director of We are here Venice

In collaboration with the Wake Up Europe campaign, We are here Venice ETS, and Europe Direct Venice Veneto, Venice International University presents an educational screening of the docufilm Blue Carbon, previously unreleased in Italy, followed by a debate on the theme of Blue Carbon and European actions to promote understanding of the importance of wetlands in Europe. Italy has 57 wetlands of international significance, recognized by the Ramsar Convention list, one of the most important of which is located in the Venice lagoon. What do we know about the role of wetlands in mitigating climate change and adaptation, as well as for sustainable development? How is Europe contributing to making the most of this superpower of nature? What solutions can be adopted at the local level to support them?

The "Blue Carbon, Sustainability and Europe" event aims to raise awareness by promoting dialogue among experts, students and locals.

In line with its mission and commitment to promote Sustainable Development and the SDGs, VIU is part of ASviS – Alleanza Italiana per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile.

The VIUlecture on May 15 is part of the 2024 Sustainable Development Festival organized by ASviS
