Global Shakespeare | Performance of Othello, July 9, 2022

Next week graduate students in the Summer School Global Shakespeare: Othello's Venice will engage in a multi-faceted exploration of one of the most timely topics in the interdisciplinary humanities: Shakespeare's global contexts and futures.

Save-the-Date | Staff Training Week | EU Project Management

November 7-11, 2022

VIU will sponsor a special edition of the training course reserved for staff from VIU's member universities.

The training course offers complete, up-to-date training on project management of EU-funded projects. Participants acquire the techniques and methods that are essential for drafting and presenting projects, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the project proposals, and their relevance to the scope of EU calls, legislation, and regulations.

This Week: Summer School on Advanced Transportation, Logistics and Supply Chain Management

The VIU Summer School on Advanced Transportation, Logistics and Supply Chain Management begins today at VIU.

30 students and professionals from Italy, Belgium, South Africa and Slovenia have arrived in Venice to explore the latest innovations in technology, business models, and policy-making. The Summer School presents a unified approach to aligning market needs with integrated sustainable transportation, logistics, and land-use planning.

PROMARES | final conference

The  PROMARES final event, “Green and smart ports in the Adriatic Ionian Region; the contribution of the European territorial cooperation between Italy, Croatia and Slovenia”, will be held in Trieste on June 8th 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. The attendance can be both in presence and on-line.
This event is a multi-project event, putting together three IT-HR projects (PROMARES, SUSPORT, DIGSEA) and one IT-SI project (CLEAN BERTH), the topic being “green and smart ports”.

The Venice Statement on the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and Sustainability

VIU is organizing an important Conference to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the "United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea" - UNCLOS.

2nd Semester 2021-22 of the Globalization Program | Closing Ceremony

The Closing Ceremony will gather together the over 100 students representing nearly 20 nationalities throughout three continents who since last February have come to San Servolo and attended in person the courses taught by professors from VIU's member universities.

The Assembly of Members of Venice International University elects the President, Dean, and members of the Board and Academic Council

On April 22, 2022, the Assembly of Members of VIU voted unanimously to re-elect Ambassador Umberto Vattani as President of the association for a 7th term. Since Ambassador Vattani joined VIU as President in 2001, he has overseen the growth and expansion of this young institution from eight member universities to twenty in 2020.

President Vattani graciously accepted the renewed nomination, and thanked the members, adding:

"Venice International University continues to grow, day after day, and to broaden the scope of its topics to address the global issues of today. It is a pride and an honour to be a part of this unique Institution and to lead such an extraordinary team".

PROMARES aims at tackling the challenges hampering the full-fledged development of the potential for maritime and multimodal freight transport in
the Programme Area. Its main objective is therefore to enhance cross-border maritime and multimodal freight transport by involving transport stakeholder and policy makers facing the same cross-border challenges, from both a strategic and operational perspective, through the increased cooperation among them. 

PROMARES | Promoting maritime and multimodal freight transport in the Adriatic Sea is a research project funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Program. 
The Promares Network is led by the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea and involves 12 partners and it is led by the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea.

SPROUT project:
presentation of the results of the test phase of a new model of sustainable and flexible transport called “NEXT"

NEXT combines a set of electric modular vehicles and innovative technology to manage transport demand. The modular vehicles can travel individually or in convoy and they do not require dedicated infrastructure.
