VIU_TeDIS is one of the partners of the project SUSPORT.
SUStainable PORTs is a strategic project funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Program.
Priority Axis: Maritime transport
Specific object: Improve the quality, safety and environmental sustainability of marine and coastal transport services and nodes by promoting multimodality in the Programme area.

Sustainable Ports is a new research project funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Program. The project will improve the safety and environmental sustainability of marine and coastal transport services and nodes by promoting multimodality. 
SUSPORT intends to strengthen the institutional capacity and cross-border governance of the ports of the Programme Area in this sector, enhancing environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.

SUSPORT project activities have begun with the analysis of the environmental sustainability and energy efficiency of Adriatic ports. The main objective is to assess the current performance of Adriatic ports in order to gauge the impact of the measures that will be implemented by the port authorities in the next phases of the project. In this context, VIU elaborated the common methodology to carry out the territorial needs assessment, with particular attention to the evaluation of the carbon footprint related to onshore and maritime operations in the port areas.

Project Partners are taking action to reduce the CO2 emission and to enhance the Ports Management.

North-Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority acquired an electric car in January 2021. The car has already travelled for more than 1.500km and is appreciated by the colleagues that used it for it's prompt reaction during the drive and for the complete absence of noise. It is in preparation a tender for a second car, that will be a hybrid plug-in. The purchase of this cars will allow them to further reduce the C02 emissions and to travel in a more sustainable and comfortable way.

Focus
Sustainable logistics is a key driver for competitiveness, efficiency, and environmental responsibility in both global supply chains and urban contexts. Growing urbanization and international trade require innovative solutions capable of reducing environmental impacts while ensuring the smooth movement of goods and people. Urban innovation in logistics and mobility policies provides effective tools to optimize transport systems, improve service quality, and strengthen the relationship between enterprises, institutions, and local communities. Academic research in this field plays a central role in developing evidence-based models, guidelines, and strategies that support policy-making and business practices. By fostering collaboration across disciplines and sectors, research on sustainable logistics and urban innovation contributes to the creation of resilient economies and more sustainable cities.

Goals
-  Advance sustainable logistics solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and support resilient supply chains in both local and global contexts.
- Promote urban innovation by developing policies, models, and tools that optimize transport systems and improve mobility within cities.
- Foster collaboration between enterprises, institutions, and local communities to strengthen networks and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Generate knowledge and guidelines that inform policy-making and business practices, contributing to sustainable and competitive urban economies.

European Projects
An international network of researchers and institutions develops projects in transport, logistics, and supply chain management aligned with the European Union agenda. These projects, supported by funding from the EU and the European Commission, involve countries within European MacroRegions, including the Adriatic and Ionian, Alpine, Baltic Sea, and Danube regions. They focus on generating innovative solutions and policy guidance specifically for the sustainable logistics sector, promoting environmentally responsible, efficient, and resilient transport and supply chain systems. By integrating sustainability into logistics, these initiatives have become strategic for enhancing the competitiveness and long-term success of economic and productive systems across all territorial levels.

Tour PMI is one of the innovation projects of Banca IFIS Impresa which aims to create a storytelling of the Bank through its client companies.
Banca IFIS every month selects the companies among all the Italian regions and meets the entrepreneurs directly in their productive realities for a storytelling through the development of mini-documentaries describing their story. Tedis contributed to the concept development and to the storytelling management. 

Regional Association of Chambers of Commerce of Veneto appointed TeDIS to carry on the work package n.5 of the project: “guidelines and requirements for migrating to the Transpogood platform“; activity n. 5.1 “roadmap and forum discussion” and activity n.5.2 “impact on the private and public sector”. Transpogood is a project financed by the Italy-Croatia Program.

The project was cofinanced by the Interreg IV Italy Austria – Objective European territorial cooperation 2007 - 2013.

Main objective:  Guarantee the accessibility and reach the green goals

Activities:
- improvement of the informatics infrastructure of the traffic for the long term street management planning; improvement of the status of the art graphic street signs in order to:
- harmonization  of the graphic sign contents in order to better manage the trans frontier and multi modality viability, the restoration of the infrastructure, the management of the street security.
- improvement of the the transfer of information and regulation  for the better usage of graphics and infrastructure.
- monitoring traffic security measures at each network level.

It was a training programme is organized by UNIDO as part of activities of the project “Strengthening and dissemination of cluster development in Nicaragua” financed by the Austrian Government.

Information Society strategy development for Veneto Region (2008/2010)
TeDIS supported Veneto Region in promoting and disseminating its activities and verifying the status of the art of the Veneto Region operative plan.

The EU Commission has launched a Manifesto to maximise the accessibility of research results in the fight against COVID-19.

The manifesto provides guiding principles for beneficiaries of EU research grants for coronavirus prevention, testing, treatment and vaccination to ensure that their research results will be accessible for all and guarantee a return on public investment.

VIU joined the ALICE network, Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe.

The European Technology Platform ALICE is set-up to develop a comprehensive strategy for research, innovation and market deployment of logistics and supply chain management innovation in Europe.

The platform will support and assist the implementation of the EU Programs for research: Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.

In the scope of the Icarus Project cofinanced by the ITA-HR Interreg Program, VIU organizes an on-line training path for Public Authority with the aim of increasing the capacity of Organizations in developing sound and sustainable projects and investments on green mobility.

On the 11^th November, the webinar n.4 “Open data to improve the mobility planning” will host the transport expert Gennaro Ciccarelli.

Relevant projects carried out in Creativity, Innovation and Design

Upskill 4.0 (2022-2024)
VIU and Upskill collaborate on the themes of the competitiveness of the territories, the ecosystems of innovation, the impact of higher technical training on the competitiveness of enterprises. The main objective of the research is to develop paths of technological and social innovation by making schools, companies and territories collaborate.

Homo Faber (2018 and 2022)
Michelangelo Foundation appointed Tedis and particularly Stefano Micelli, its Scientific Director as expert to collaborate in the concept of their Homo Faber project, to select some of the artisans that took part of the exhibition and to curate the automotive pavillion.

Bond Factory (2019/2020)
D-House, a Lab for the new technologies of Fashion: TeDIS carries out a study for the development of an innovative laboratory capable of accelerating digital transformation processes in the fashion sector with particular attention to the issues of the green economy and the training of new professional figures.

VIU Graduate Seminar: "rethinking manufacturing, consumption and globalizaton in the era of automation" (2019)
Twenty years ago, the TeDIS Center has been developed proposing a specific line of research devoted to study the relationship between the rise of network technologies and the model of organization of economic activities. The present competitive scenario is characterized by the rise of a new set of technologies that are reshaping the way production and consumption is organized. This VIU Graduate Seminar aims offers a training opportunity to discuss the challenges of this new scenario, providing a framework to interpret the deep transformations that will occur at multiple levels – firms, countries, consumers / citizens, cities.

TourPMI (2017/2018/2019)

Italian Association City of Ceramics (2017/2108)
Tedis carried out a research on the "go-to-market" model strategy declinated to the Ceramics sector.

PIM Center (2017/2018)
Tedis has been appointed by PIM to collaborate in a research analyzing the revitalization of city centers through the artisans labs and shops as key factor of the economic reinassance of urban life.

Digital Artisan Lab (2015/2016)
IFIS bank appointed TeDIS to implement a communication plan on digital workshops in order to show how traditional Italian companies of Made in Italy had the capacity to transform theirselves in companies confronting the global economic challenges thanks to the new technologies of the digital manufacturing.
the activities carried on were:
-to develop a communication format and platform where to higlights the workshops case studies;
-to identify the case studies to be part of the video platform.
Digital Artisan Lab is the container committed to create a storytelling of this path and of this transformation. 

Maker Faire Rome (2014/2016)
showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness of the "Makers Movement".
TeDIS has been appointed by Innovacamera (Chamber of Commerce of Rome) to carry on dissemination and supporting activities within the framework of the Maker Faire 2016, 2015 and 2014, that were held in Rome annually in October.
Activities developed:
-Manufacturing hackathon: Planning and coordination of manufacturing hackathon held in locations identified by the Chamber of Commerce of Rome.
- Makers school: creation of a national network of technical and vocational schools that participated in setting up prototypes and projects to be presented during the events that took place in the Innovation Week
- Digital artisans: selection of a group of craftsmen who were able to transform their traditional business.
- Call for school: Italian schools participated to the annual call for application.

Digital Manifacturing  (2015):
Fondazione Make in Italy appointed TeDIS to carry on parts of its research on:
- digital manifacturing for growth and productivity
- companies strategies transformation
- digital manifacturing and innovation of Made in Italy
- the evolution of Fab Lab business models
The data analysis supported by questionnaires and case studies focussed on the impact of technologies on digital manifaturing and on the evolution of companies strategies.

Valore artigiano (2013/2014)
The Artisans Federation of Entrepreneurs of Vicenza (FAIV) appointed TeDIS to design and implement a series of Workshops and Labs addressed to young designers coming from the main European Design Schools to promote the linkages between local artisans and contemporary designers in order to develop an innovative approach to the artisan world.

- Innovative service models for Veneto Region (2014/2016):
Engineering Informatica appointed TeDIS to analyze and develop innovative service models, such as: 
- fab lab: development of open labs on digital manufacturing
- open wifi: set up the operative steps to spread the open wifi in Veneto Region involving municipalities
- broadband: analysis of broadband evolution and set up of an operative guideline for the management of the National Plan for the optical fiber.

- P3@Veneti  (2015)
Veneto Innovazione appointed TeDIS to give advice to project governance actions in support of the access points and to provide a review report on the project activities.
The project aimed to create, in collaboration with the Municipalities of Veneto Region, public spaces addressed to citizens helping them to access the internet services provided by the Public Administration.

- Valorization of Cultural Heritage in Veneto Region (2008/2010)
TeDIS has supported Veneto Region in introducing a new models of valorization and communication of Veneto Cultural Heritage developing two initiatives:
- "Ambassador of Venitian Culture Award" that on July 1st 2010 was awarded to Lady Frances Clarke
- "Veneto Movie School" that in 2010 involved 10 young filmmakers who were invited to spend two months in Veneto developing documentaries expressing their own original point of view on the region.
The award ceremony was held at the Terrace of the Excelsior Hotel in Venice Lido on September 10, 2010.
On December 3, 2010, the Veneto Movie School Videos was presented at the XIV^ Edition of the "Salone dei Beni Culturali", in Venice.

- Information Society Strategy development for Arpav (2008/2010)
The regional agency for the environmental protection in Veneto (Arpav) appointed TeDIS as scientific partner to support its strategies of development of on line services addressed to citizens accessing the Arpav website.

- Information Society strategy development for Veneto Region (2008/2010)
TeDIS supported Veneto Region in promoting and disseminating its activities and verifying the status of the art of the operative plan.

- My Portal (2005/2006)
TeDIS developed part of a Regional project related to the diffusion of online services for public administration addressed to citizens of the Mountain Communities of the Belluno Province.

- Citizen iTV (2006/2007)
An experimental project of Veneto Region focused on Digital Television as a new channel to deliver public contents and interactive services from local public bodies to citizens and companies.

It aims at fast-tracking upscaling to a new generation of urban logistics and smart planning; enabling the transition to decarbonised and digital cities, delivering innovative frameworks and tools, and changing the Urban Logistics and Planning paradigm

VIU Summer School on Advanced Transportation, Logistics and Supply Chain Management (June 19-23, 2022)
The Summer school “Advanced Transportation, Logistics and Supply chain management Program - Aligning market needs with integrated transportation, logistics and land-use planning: a unified approach” is organized by Venice International University together with University of Naples Federico II.

Financed by the H2020 Program. The project provides a new city-led innovative and data driven policy response to address the impacts of the emerging mobility patterns, digitally-enabled operating & business models, and transport users’ needs.

- ICARUS: Intermodal Connections in Adriatic-Ionian Region to Upgrowth Seamless solutions for passenger (2019/2022)
The project is cofinanced by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Program. The program specific objective is to improve the quality, safety and environmental sustainability of marine and coastal transport services and nodes by promoting multimodality in the Program area. The project will improve passenger intermodal transport connections and eases coast –hinterland sustainable accessibility to promote car-independent lifestyles".

- PROMARES: Promoting maritime and multimodal freight transport in the Adriatic Sea (2019/2022)
The project is cofinanced by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme. The program specific objective is to improve the quality, safety and environmental sustainability of marine and coastal transport services and nodes by promoting multimodality in the Program area. The project will implement and develop coordinated strategies and pilot actions so as to apply the concept of "port clustering".

- VIU PhD Academy: Mobility challenges for future society (2019)
Mobility these days refers not only to a physical movement but also to the mobility of ideas and images. For the cities, especially the historical urban context, mobility is the topic in which public administrations face many of the challenges of the future society, such as equity, inclusion, sustainability, energy efficiency. This PhD Academy aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issues related to the challenges of mobility in the future society.

- Transpogood Project (2018/2019):

- SUPAIR: Sustainable Ports in the Adriatic-Ionian Region (2017/2019)
It is a project cofinanced by the Adriatic-Ionian Programme INTERREG V-B Transnational 2014-2020.
Ports are core nodes for multimodal transport in the Adriatic-Ionian basin and strategic key drivers for economic growth: reducing negative environmental impacts is essential for a sustainable development of the area. The project goal is the reduction of emissions from shipping and on-shore port operations, enhancing port authorities’ capacity to plan and implement low-carbon and multimodal transport and mobility solutions.

- Peripheral Access: Transnational cooperation and partnership for better public transport in peripheral and cross-border regions (2017/2020)
It is a project cofinanced by Central Europe Program. Peripheral Access improves mobility in specifically peripheral areas such as rural, remotely located or border regions. This is crucial as 93% of the EU territories are peripheral areas. The project will analyse this situation in detail and implement innovative pilot actions.

- Novelog: New Cooperative Business Model and Guidance for Sustainable City Logistics (2015/2018) 
It was a project cofinanced by H2020 Programme. The scope of the project was to enable the knowledge and understanding of freight distribution and service trips by providing guidance for implementing effective and sustainable policies and measures. This guidance supports the choice of applicable solutions for urban freight and transport services, and facilitates stakeholders collaboration and the development, field testing and transfer of the best governance and business models.

- Sus Freight: Sustainable Freight Transport (2013/2014) 
It was a project co-financed by the Alpine Space Program. SusFreight aimed at addressing the environmental problems related to transports through the natural bottleneck represented by the regions composing the Alpine Space geographical area.

- ACROSSEE: Accessibility improved at border Crossings for the integration of South East Europe (2012/2014) 
It was a project co-financed by the Transnational Cooperation Programme "South-East Europe", working in line with the new EU TEN-T Guidelines and aiming at improving cross-border accessibility in the South -East Europe Area. This objective was reached by promoting optimization of the existing network and extending the EU transport network model to the Western Balkans.

- Adria A: Accessibility and development of the Adriatic sea (2010/2014)
The project was cofinanced by Interreg Italia Slovenia Program and studied the metropolitan area between the Italian and Slovenian border, thanks to the integration of Slovenia in the Shengen area. The integration between the two areas in one macro area allows citizens and territory to augment its level of fruition. The idea was to link together by a a railway ring the urban areas of  Trieste and Capodistria, the port of Gorizia and Nova Gorica, the airports of Venice, Ronchi dei Legionari and Lubiana. The governance of this transnational territorial system requires an institutional network able to work together as a whole territorial system.

- EURIDICE: European Inter-Disciplinary Research on Intelligent Cargo for Efficient, Safe and Environment-friendly Logistics (2008/2013)
The project was co-financed by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration".
The prjoject developed the concepts, technological solutions and business models to establish an advanced information services for freight transportation in Europe. The project is built on the Intelligent Cargo concept, defined by the following vision statement:
“In three years time, most of the goods flowing through European freight corridors will be ‘intelligent’, i.e.: 
self-aware, context-aware and connected through a global telecommunication network to support a wide 
range of information services for logistic operators, industrial users and public authorities.”

- TRIM: Transport Infrastructure Monitoring (2008/2011)
The project was co-financed by the Interreg IV Italy Austria, European territorial cooperation 2007/2013.
The main objective was to guarantee the accessibility and reach the green goals through:
- improve traffic informatics infrastructure for the long term street management planning
- harmonize the structure of the graphic street signs contentsto better manage the traffic and the management of the street security.
- improve the transfer of information and the clearness of regulation for the better usage of graphics and infrastructure.

- I_LOG: Industrial Logistics (2005/2006)
The project was cofinanced for the 50% by the European Commission through the Interreg IIIB CADSES funds and for the other 50 % from the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation.
The lead partner was the Veneto Region.
Venice International University won a call for tender of the Veneto Region to implementat three logistic pilot projects in collaboration with three industrial districts of the North East of Italy, namely, Montebelluna: wood and furniture district, Treviso textile district, Verona marble district.
The project provided local SMEs with innovative tools to sustain their competitiveness and the reducing traffic congestions.
